From Servants to Gods: Will Machines Eventually Rule Our Lives?
My View of the Technological World Inspired by TV Series and Movies
Everything we are infatuated with and believe in is an embodiment of god, as we allow these things to control our words, actions, and behaviours, becoming the rulers of our lives.
Money, sex, drugs, technology, media, and other gods are portrayed in the TV series “American Gods,” which tells the story of a war between old gods (mythological and religious deities from the past) and new gods (technology, media, etc.) due to the shift in human attention and beliefs.
Similarly, in the third season of the TV series “Westworld” or the movie “Minority Report” starring Tom Cruise, we see the potential consequences of relying on artificial intelligence (AI) to predict the future. If we depend on them entirely, we may become puppets controlled by them. “Minority Report” predicts criminals and helps the police arrest them in advance, while in “Westworld,” the prediction system Rehoboam can control human beings by predicting their future, including whether they will commit a crime, how old they will die, whom they will marry, etc. This system has god-like power.
What should we do when the prediction goes wrong? In “Minority Report,” humans still have the right…
